What do 95% of Canadians have in common? They think access to Canadian news and journalism is important, and a staggering 79% of Canadians are concerned about fake news. Canadians are telling us they want quality, home-grown journalism, and the impact of losing it would be catastrophic.

Not only is support of Canadian news programming good for the country, it’s good for business. 86% of news consumers believe there is either a positive or neutral effect on brands placed in news programming, even when the news stories are serious or upsetting. Another study found that ads that appear in the news are perceived as having more valuable information, and are more trustworthy than when appearing in non-news.

Canadians trust TV news. News programming makes up 20% of time spent watching TV, and with 94% of that being watched live, it is a prime advertising environment.
