The increase in fake news and its consequences has seen a lot of headlines lately, and is a growing issue for citizens, governments – and companies. So it’s no surprise that concern about fake news is on the rise – and that appreciation for established media is strong.
We asked Canadians what they thought about fake news and found that:
- The majority of Canadians are concerned about fake news, and 1 in 4 are “very concerned”
- That concern is growing, and is consistent across all demographics
- That said, there is still trust in media: TV is the most trusted source for news, followed by newspapers
- Canadians spend 25 minutes / day watching news on TV
