Canadians spend far more time watching television – and far less time on YouTube and social media – than recent headlines would have you believe.

The attached report outlines where Canadian adults are spending their Screen Time.

Report Highlights:

  • Canadian adults spend on average 25 hours per week watching TV – compared to only 3.4 hours on YouTube, 1.2 hours with Netflix, and a mere 6 minutes per week on Twitter.
  • Millennials spend a lot of time online, but they still spend 13.5 hours watching TV each week:  twice what they spend on YouTube, 6 times more than they spend with Netflix and 3.8 times more than they spend on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter combined.
  • Canadian women spend more time watching television than men, while men spend slightly more time on YouTube.
