newsletter: celebrating the best in 2024 holiday creative

December 16, 2024

It’s the most wonderful time of the year … for great TV advertising!

One of our traditions at thinktv is to celebrate excellence in holiday creative from around the world. Our favourite commercials this year hail from Canada, the UK, and the US. From being reunited with a loved one to the return of (a cheeky) Kevin the Carrot, these spots pack an emotional punch and deliver enduring brand impact.

IGA “Paulo’s Wish”
IGA delivers another beautifully animated video. This year’s story features Paulo, whose holiday wish is that his mother reunites with her estranged sister (happy ending spoiler alert!). Produced in both French and English.

CBC “Make the Season Kind”
Canadian celebrities join CBC to spread the message of kindness this holiday season. One dollar, one can of food, or one hour of your time can make a tremendous difference to Canadians in need.

M&S “I Believe in Miracles”
We believe in miracles, and we also believe this is a fabulous spot: stylish, festive, and beautifully choreographed. Bonus kudos: Mark Ritson named M&S brand of the year – check out what he says are M&S’s 10 steps to success.

Boots “Make Magic”
You thought it was all him? Mrs. Claus sleighs as she and her elfluencers get all the last-minute touches completed just in time for the big day. Starring Bridgerton’s Adjoa Andoh.

Barbour “Shaun the Sheep”
Carolling at a very cold Mossy Bottom Farm, Bitzer is trying his best to conduct the choir, but the ‘baas’ are beginning to freeze. The only way to keep them singing? Winter clothes from Barbour of course!

ALDI “Kevin the Carrot’s Christmas Mission”
Will Kevin the Carrot and his helpers save the Christmas Spirit in time? Find out in this funny, punny (& cheeky!) spot from ALDI UK.

ALDI “Win the Holidays”
It’s hard to beat Kevin the Carrot, but ALDI US have their own cheeky take on the holidays, with a rhyme that begins with “Nana thought you’d screw it up” (you didn’t!).

Amazon “What the World Needs Now”
From spotless mirrors to spotless vocals, the caretaker in this spot gets to showcase his hidden talent with a little help from his co-workers – and Amazon, of course. Airing on TV in Canada and around the world.

Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday and all the best for 2025,
